What is SDI’s latest position on the rescheduled SDI20 conference and SDI Awards?

In support of the UK Government’s aim of delaying the spread of Coronavirus, earlier this year we made the unprecedented decision to reschedule the SDI20 conference and the SDI Awards to 16-18 March 2021.

Since the Government’s decision to lockdown again from 5 November, we have decided that the SDI20 conference will now take place virtually via a live stream on 16 & 17 March 2021 instead of in person at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

We have also taken the decision to host the presentation ceremony for the IT Service & Support Awards 2020 live virtually and the new date is 26 November 2020.

We have updated these FAQs to help conference delegates, awards finalists and sponsors navigate through the update.

Conference Delegates

Will the postponed SDI20 conference still be going ahead?
Yes, the SDI20 conference will be going ahead on the previously rescheduled dates of 16 & 17 March 2021. The two day programme will be live streamed from a studio and accessible virtually online to all existing ticket holders.

What will the speaker programme be?
We are intending to keep the conference programme similar to the original programme, although it will be tweaked to suit the new virtual streaming delivery method. The keynote speakers remain as per the original programme and we will keep delegates up to date with any changes in the speaker programme via the conference app. For details on how to to download the app please email events@sdi-e.com.

What is the refund policy?
As the conference will be going ahead as planned, your original ticket remains valid for the virtual event. Invoices for SDI20 remain payable as per the terms and conditions.

What about my all-inclusive ticket?
If you have booked an all-inclusive ticket to the conference which included accommodation, you will receive compensation for the accommodation portion of your ticket in the form of a voucher to the value of 15% of your ticket value. This can be redeemed against SDI training services of your choice (to be redeemed by the end of 2021).

What if I can’t make the new conference or awards date?
We welcome substitute delegates or guests attending in your place for the live virtual event. However, as the whole event will be recorded you will be able to access the full content on demand after the 17 March and you’ll have a full month to enjoy catching up at a time to suit you.

Can I get a refund on any travel or accommodation I had already booked?
Unfortunately, SDI isn’t liable for any travel or other expenses already incurred as stated in the booking terms and conditions. We will not be able to refund any travel or accommodation costs already incurred and we will not be liable for any future travel costs incurred.

Awards Finalists

What is happening with the SDI Awards?
There is a new date for the IT Service & Support Awards presentation ceremony which will be delivered live virtually on 26 November 2020. All tickets to the awards ceremony will be honoured for the virtual event. If you are a finalist you have already been notified and more details can be found here.

When will we find out the results of the awards?
The judges’ decisions were finalised before the original awards ceremony scheduled for March 2020 and remain unaffected. The results of the 2020 awards will be announced at the rescheduled live virtual presentation ceremony on 26 November 2020. More details here.

Can I get a refund on my awards ticket or accommodation?
The awards ceremony will be going ahead as planned, just virtually at a later date – 26 November 2020. Your awards ticket remains valid and you will receive an invitation to join the event live. If you booked accommodation directly through SDI, we will be offering a refund on the accommodation part of your ticket or an SDI services voucher to the same value (to be redeemed by the end of 2021). The SDI team will be in touch directly if you booked awards accommodation to arrange the refund or voucher.

What if I can’t make the new awards dinner date?
We welcome substitute delegates or guests attending in your place. If you are unable to make the new date or find a replacement, the ceremony will be recorded and you will be able to catch up on demand at a time to suit you.

Will non-attendance of the new date affect the outcome of the awards?
The judge’s decisions have already been made and the outcomes will be unaffected. The announcements will be made at the virtual presentation ceremony on 26 November 2020.

Can I get a refund on any travel or accommodation I have already booked?
Unfortunately, SDI isn’t liable for any travel or other expenses already incurred as stated in the terms and conditions of the conference and awards. We will not be able to refund any travel or accommodation costs already incurred and we will not be liable for any additional future travel or accommodation expenses.

Conference and awards sponsors

What is happening to sponsors of the SDI20 and the SDI Awards?
SDI will honour all SDI20 sponsorships at the conference and awards for the new dates – 26 November 2020 and 16 & 17 March 2021. Exhibition stands and/or sponsored speaker sessions will go ahead as planned at the rescheduled virtual event. Details will be provided to sponsors shortly.

Can we cancel or get a refund on our sponsorship of SDI20 or the SDI Awards 2020?
As the event is being rescheduled, SDI is not able to refund confirmed sponsorships for SDI20 or the SDI Awards 2020.

How many delegates will be attending the postponed conference and awards?
All tickets for SDI20 and the SDI Awards have been honoured at the rescheduled events. Delegates and finalists will be encouraged to attend the rescheduled conference and awards.

Will SDI cover any costs sponsors have already incurred for travel, accommodation, delivery?
Unfortunately, SDI is not liable for any expenses already incurred, or to be incurred in the future, as stated in the terms and conditions of the conference and awards.
